Gradients seem to be most important for artistic images. This will hopefully be fixed in the next release. The filter in fact produces wrong results for transparency gradients, because I misinterpreted the specs for gradients and opacity. My first impression was that this is a bug in Draw, but this is not the case. However, the result in Draw is that areas that should have been transparent are rendered black.
